Dear Colleagues,

We are very happy to announce the first issue of Cancer Research, Statistics and Treatment. There are few journals dedicated to oncology in India. From my prior experience as the editor of a reputed oncology journal, I realized that there is an urgent need for a new journal, considering that only a fraction of articles submitted is ultimately accepted for publication. I also got similar feedback from other authors, researchers, and peers. As authors, we also experienced the problem of timely review and publication of articles, confirming the need for a new journal.

This Journal will be open to all articles related to the field of oncology. We have developed a prototype for the table of contents which includes original articles, review articles, a segment on the pragmatic aspect of statistics, a segment on the details of chemotherapy protocols, a summary of prospective and ongoing trials on a topic, image challenge and a perspective/ philosophical/ opinion piece. We have tried to make the content interesting, informative and meaningful to the daily care of oncology patients. This prototype is dynamic and evolving; we will be happy to modify as per the feedback from our authors and peers.

The success of any journal primarily depends on the active participation of the authors. They are the most important stakeholders in any journal. We sincerely request authors to contribute to the journal by submitting articles, to participate as reviewers and to provide critical feedback for improving the content.

I end by thanking all my colleagues who have helped in the commissioning of this journal. This journal is the brainchild of Dr. Kumar Prabhash, without whose inspiration, encouragement and constant hard-work, this journal would not have seen the light of day. Dr. Vijay Patil and Dr. Sampada Desai have worked tirelessly on the content. Many others have helped, especially our residents in the Department of Medical Oncology, Tata Memorial Hospital, and I am grateful for all the help.
